Well, we know that exercise is one key factor in lowering blood pressure; however, in today’s hectic world, lots of people find it difficult to commit to an exercise program because of lack of time.

So, the results of a recent study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health is very encouraging since it shows that even moderate exercise done less than 5 days a week can yield great improvement in lowering blood pressure measurements.

n the study, a small group of sedentary individuals between the ages of 40 and 60 took part in an exercise program for 12 weeks. The group was randomly divided in three where one group was assigned 30 minutes of brisk walking 5 days a week. The second group was assigned the same program, but for only 3 days a week, and the third group did nothing; that is, they were not asked to make any changes to their current lifestyle habits. At the end of the 12 weeks study, the non-walkers did not show any changes in their measurements. However, both walking groups showed significant drop in blood pressure, as well as in their waist and hip measurements.
