2008 Volvo XC70 Pricing Released

Set to go on sale this fall, Volvo’s XC70 SUV will come with an impressive list of safety features and a refined, efficient powertrain, the Scandinavian automaker says. Extensive standard safety equipment includes Volvo Side Impact Protection System, Whiplash Protection System, ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist and dynamic traction / stability control.

The XC70 rides an advanced structure which is composed of several different types of steel, intended to optimize crash-energy distribution around the cabin to protect occupants. The powerful engine he mentions is a 3.2 litre straight-six with 235 horsepower, hooked up with a six-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive with Instant Traction. Capable in bad weather or on the trails, the XC70 includes a hill-descent control system as standard as well- which helps it to safely scale down steep inclines.

Stand-alone options include a blind spot warning system, priced at $750, which scans the XC70’s blind spots and alerts drivers if it detects a possibly hidden vehicle. Adaptive cruise control and collision warning technology is available for $1,500. This feature automatically maintains a safe cruising distance behind another vehicle and can ready the brakes for a panic stop if one seems likely.

XC70 goes on sale in October with a starting price of $46,495. Stay tuned for further details and a test drive.
